HONEYBADGER CAMPS
“Keeping Kids Out Of Gangs”
About us
Our mission is to intercept the lives of teenagers: setting them on a new course away from the inherit dangers that lie in their paths within their existing communities.
Through participation in the Honeybadger Camps, teenagers learn more about themselves, their limits and new skills, enabling them to be more responsible for their own lives and make better decisions.
Badgers are given access to HOPE: Honour, Opportunity, Purpose, Empowerment.
But we cannot do this alone. Our current team of staff and volunteers need assistance through your donations of equipment, food, and money. We are also looking for camp volunteers who have the skills and time to invest in the lives of our teenagers.
Camps are currently run annually in the Southern Cape region, targeting teenagers from the Overberg District and surrounding areas.
The Honeybadger
Honeybadgers have a reputation for being fearless and resilient no matter what they face in their path. They have been known to fight off lions and hyenas.
The Honeybadger’s unwavering spirit and fearless nature serves as a powerful example for our teenagers. We encourage them to embrace these qualities, enabling them to fearlessly pursue their dreams regardless of social or financial constraints.
We teach them to adapt to challenges like the Honeybadger. We provide them with tools to thrive in diverse environments, adjust to circumstances and to cultivate problem – solving skills that will equip them to navigate life’s twists and turn with ease.
Our Story
Tiberah NPC was established in 2016 with the aim to teach mathematics and literacy to teenagers in the Cape Agulhas region. It soon became apparent that the problems these teens had to navigate were more than just academic.
Inspired by a vision to see teenagers develop into adults with a sustainable and profitable future, the first Honeybadger Boot Camp was piloted in 2022.
Our success stories may be few, but results are evident in the lives of our badgers who have learnt to endure and make better decisions for their own lives and the lives of their families.
We continue to promote the Honeybadger way to as many teenagers as we can reach through our different camps.
